Pycnonotus gularis (Gould, 1836) - Flame-throated Bulbul

Subspecies in India

Previously known in several subspecific forms, now as:
(1) Black-crested BulbulPycnonotus flaviventris (Tickell, 1833) (Himalaya)
(2) Flame-throated Bulbul or Ruby-throated Bulbul Pycnonotus gularis (Gould, 1836) (Western Ghats), and
(3) Black-capped Bulbul — Pycnonotus melanicterus (J. F. Gmelin, 1789) (Sri Lanka).
