This rare species is found in India and Myanmar. It inhabits moist evergreen forests and shrublands on the hilly areas of Arunachal Pradesh (between 300m-900m asl). It breeds during April-July in the ravines and for wintering, it congregates and moves to the shrubs on the hillside (BirdLife International 2017).
Conservation Status:

According to the IUCN Red List Assessment, the population of this species is declining, with the current population estimate of 2,500-9,999 individuals. The major threat to this species is unknown, a possible threat to its persistence could be habitat disturbance due to logging and agriculture (BirdLife International 2017).
